Q1

What is family child care? Are you licensed?

A: Family child care is a licensed child care service provided in a caregiver's home. It offers a more personal, home-like environment, with smaller group sizes and personalized attention. We are licensed by the State Department of Social Services, which means we meet or exceed all health, safety, and educational requirements.

Q2

What ages of children do you care for?

A: We provide care for children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

Q3

What are your operating hours?

A: Our regular business hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, we accommodate early drop-offs as early as 7:00 AM and late pick-ups until 6:00 PM. For special occasions or care beyond regular hours, please contact us to inquire about availability.

Q4

How many children are in your care at one time?

A: We follow licensing guidelines and care for a maximum of 14 children at a time, depending on the age group.

Q5

How do I enroll my child, and is there a registration fee

To enroll, we ask that you first schedule a tour so we can meet with you and discuss your child’s needs. There is a one-time $200 registration fee, which will be refunded after your child’s care has ended. However, this fee does not apply to children attending only one day or for special occasions. While we do not offer a trial period, parents are free to end the service at any time. If you have any questions or need more details, feel free to ask!

Q6

What are your rates and payment options?

A: Our rates vary based on your child’s age and the number of days they attend, with options for part-time, full-time, and extended hours. Rates start at $85 per day, and we offer discounts for signing up for 6-month or 12-month terms, as well as sibling discounts. Payments can be made via cash, check, or Zelle, and are due on the 1st of each month. Please contact us for more detailed information and specific rates.

Q7

What does a typical day look like?

A: A typical day includes a mix of free play, structured learning activities, outdoor time, snacks, and naps. We focus on early childhood education, social skills, and hands-on learning. We offer a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sensory play, storytime, outdoor play, and early education activities to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Please refer our Activity page for more details.

Q8

What is your sick child policy, and what safety protocols do you have in place?

If your child shows signs of illness, such as a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, we ask that you keep them home to ensure the health and safety of all children in our care. Children may return 24 hours after symptoms subside. At our family daycare, children are less likely to get sick compared to larger centers, especially during flu season, due to smaller group sizes and the individualized attention they receive. In addition to our sick child policy, we have comprehensive safety protocols in place, including childproofed environments, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and emergency plans for various situations. All caregivers are trained in CPR and First Aid to further ensure a safe and supportive environment for your child.

Q9

How do I enroll my child, and is there a registration fee

To enroll, we ask that you first schedule a tour so we can meet with you and discuss your child’s needs. There is a one-time $200 registration fee, which will be refunded after your child’s care has ended. However, this fee does not apply to children attending only one day or for special occasions. While we do not offer a trial period, parents are free to end the service at any time. If you have any questions or need more details, feel free to ask!

Q10

What are your policies regarding vacations, absences, and contract termination?

A: While we do not take vacations, we are closed on federal and state holidays. If your family decides to leave for a few days, we ask that you notify us at least one week in advance; please note that tuition will continue during this time. For longer absences of more than a month, we encourage you to discuss arrangements with the provider. If you need to terminate the contract, we require a 30-day notice to ensure a smooth transition. Your understanding and cooperation help us maintain a supportive environment for all families.

Q11

How do you communicate with parents about their child's daily activities and emergencies?

We provide daily updates through a log in our sign-in and sign-out book, detailing diaper changes, meals, nap duration, and other activities. While we do not offer live cameras or send pictures to protect the privacy of all children, I will text or call parents if any concerns arise or in case of emergencies. If you anticipate running late for pick-up, please provide a courtesy phone call or message at least one hour in advance, as a late pick-up fee may apply. Your communication is essential for ensuring a smooth experience for both you and your child.

Q12

What items do I need to bring for my child?

We provide meals, so children may choose to bring their own dishes and utensils, or they can bring disposable ones if preferred. Please send a cup or bottle suitable for their age, and I will pack all used dishes and utensils to go home for cleaning. Parents should provide a new set for the following day. Additionally, please bring standardized crib sheets, a blanket if needed, an extra set of clothes, shoes, and diapers and baby wipes for those who require them. We also provide potty training support, so don’t forget to include sanitizing wipes for added cleanliness.
